Look for the Blue Bins!
recycleLook for the blue ClearStream recycling bins at the street fair this year. The Solana Center for Environmental Innovation will be lending the Downtown Encinitas MainStreet Association 25 ClearStream recycling bins. Thanks to their generous donation we will be placing these bins throughout the Street Fair to offer people a recycling option. By doing this, we hope to divert waste from the landfill into recycling centers. Please not that Starbucks Coffee cups, plastic cutlery, napkins, disposable plates, and plastic bags cannot be recycled in the blue bins. Please help prevent recycling bin contamination by throwing these items in the trashcans. There will be signs posted, encouraging people to drop their recyclables in the blue bin!

Recycling at the Karl Strauss Beer Garden

DEMA will also be using its own ClearStream bins in the Karl Strauss Beer Garden located at Hwy 101 and I Street. DEMA will be encouraging beer garden customers to re-use their cups in place of getting a new one for each beer they buy. Our goal is to cut cup usage from 3,000 the previous year to 1,500 this year. The cups will also be recyclable! We are asking beer garden customers to empty their cups in the buckets next to the recycling bins in order to prevent contamination. There will be signs posted, encouraging people to re-use their cups and drop their recyclables in the blue bin!

Karl Strauss  Hansen’s Community Stage

Local children and community members will again have a chance to showcase their talents at the Community Stage, sponsored by Hansen Surf Boards. We’re proud of our local talent and look forward to another Encinitas Street Fair filled with dance, music and song. The sponsorship of the Community Stage also supports Class-ACT, a local non-profit organization that brings arts programming to our local schools. The mission of Class-ACT is to foster the development of performing arts, visual arts and technology programming benefiting children in the community. You’ll want to be a part of the community spirit to support for our children and for Class-ACT, so drop by and cheer on the performers at the Hansen’s Community Stage.

Encinitas School of Music Stage

The Downtown Encinitas MainStreet Association will be adding another music stage to the Encinitas Street Fair this year courtesy of the Encinitas School of Music. Come see talented music students and local musicians From 12:30pm- 5pm at the corner of D Street and Hwy101. The Encinitas School of Music (EsoM) is a non-profit organization whom always appreciates and relies on grants and other funds donated to their school.

Recently, ESoM received a grant from The City Of Encinitas, which was matched by the Mizel Family Fund. This grant has been put to good use by providing the school with a performance stage, which will be used to provide the extra stage at the Encinitas Street Fair, April 26th and April 27th, where their students will perform music in a band type setting.

DEMA would like to thank the Encinitas School of music for their efforts, the City of Encinitas and the Mizel Family Fund for their generous grant, which will help continue the tradition of performing arts in the Encinitas community. Musical acts include Peter Hall and Russell Castiglione, Tri-Force, and the Encinitas School of Music. For more information call the Encinitas School of music 760.943.9480.

Peter Hall has appeared on San Diego television and radio with his original songs. His music is infused with rock, blues, folk, and country. Hall has carefully shaped his style to make it uniquely his own. www.peterhallmusic.com
